The idea was to design a chair using a doormat as a soft shell to mount on Ikea's BRORINGE legs.
The plastic doormat was functionally perfect due to its softness, the ease of drilling and mounting on the legs, and the wide availability of different colors on the market.
Welcome elevates the function of the doormat and makes it part of an ironic, cheap, and open source object.
